JOHN KOOPMANS, beloved husband, father and papa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the age of 67 years.

John will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Alison Dawn; his children: Jenna (Jordan) Slomp, Cassie (Brent), and Josh; and his four grandsons: Sam, Parker, Mason and Chase. He is also survived by his siblings: Tina Van Arragon, Gerdy Vandebeek, Hilda (Phil) Smith, Otto Koopmans; as well as his sisters-in-law Barb Koopmans and Micki Koopmans.

John was predeceased by his parents Siebe and Barbara Koopmans; as well as brothers Dick Koopmans, Andy Koopmans, Tom Koopmans and Bill Koopmans.

John was born October 2, 1956 in Lethbridge, and he grew up around Southern Alberta. He married Alison in 1981 and they enjoyed their life together. John was a wonderful husband and father and he found great joy in spending time with his grandsons. John was employed as a floor installer and in his free time he was a talented craftsman. He had an incredible eye for detail and made intricate and creative projects out of wood. He often challenged himself to learn new art forms until he mastered them, and anything he did, he did it beautifully. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening.

John loved the Lord Jesus Christ and eagerly anticipated the day he would meet his Savior face to face. His family finds great comfort in knowing that he is now with the Lord and that they will see him again one day.

A Memorial Service will be held at FREE GRACE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH, 1807 - 2A Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bill Zwartbol officiating.
