Send a Tribute

JERRY KIERS was blessed with 80 years of life; during this time, he experienced the love of his wife, Nettie, for 56 years, and got to watch his four children, Margaret, Karen, Rick, and Sandy grow and succeed; he took great pride in his family. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchild was apparent, always showing a compassionate interest in their lives.

Along with his 12 siblings, Jerry immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1950. From an early age he showed a strong work ethic; he was a valuable employee in the poultry industry and completed every task to a high standard. He enjoyed golfing, travelling, going for coffee, playing cards, and spending time in Montana by the lake. Jerry was a devout Christian; he actively participated in the church and found joy in singing in the men's choir. Jerry's admirable traits were easily recognizable; he was kind, easy-going, considerate, and friendly. With ease, Jerry could engage in a conversation with close friends as well as the stranger he just met at the coffee shop.

In these last years, he didn't like how his body was slowing, and he sometimes wondered why God was keeping him alive; perhaps it was to teach us that when faced with difficult situations, you handle them with grace, optimism, and a sense of calm while maintaining an appreciation for what you have been given and gratitude to those special in your life.

Left to cherish many fond memories are Nettie, Marg and Stephen, Nicole, Daniel, Sarah and Eevee; Riley and Christy, Jordan and Michelle, and Kim; Karen and Gerrit, Lindsey, Tyler and Hannah; Rick and Marlene, Braeden and Courtney and Kenzie; and Sandy and Dale, Justin, Jared and Cayley, and Shalyn.

Due to the current situation, a family graveside ceremony was held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Mission Thrift Store, 3001 - 32 St. S, Lethbridge, AB T1K 7B1. Jerry would have liked to thank Nettie and all of the medical personnel who provided him with such amazing care.
