With great sadness, we announce the passing of BILL KERR (James William), beloved husband of the late Pat Kerr. Bill passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 84 years.
Bill was a loving dad to Kelly (Al) Rypien, Sandy Williston, Jim (Laura) Kerr and grandpa to Taylor and Matt Rypien, Aislinn and Emily Williston and Sydney and Sam Kerr. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Lottie Kerr. He is survived by his sisters Joyce, Christine and Joan, as well as his brother Gerald.
Bill was born March 6, 1933 in Pointe ? la Croix, Bonaventure, Quebec. Bill met Pat, the love of his life, in 1956. They were married in 1958 and began their life together in Pickering Village, Ontario. He was a devout family man and was committed to bettering his community through volunteer work. In 1983, Bill relocated the family to Lethbridge, Alberta to advance his career as Plant Superintendent with Kawneer Lethbridge. He retired in 1991 but in his early retirement, decided to rejoin the workforce as a school bus driver with the City of Lethbridge where he remained for 20 years.
Bill was an avid golfer, had a passion for woodworking and was a proud member of the Lethbridge Hockey Hounds. He was a people person and what was most important to him was the relationships he built with all those he came into contact with. Above all, his children and grandchildren were his world!
Bill was one of a kind and he will be forever remembered and missed!
The family would like to thank all the health care staff that have cared for Dad throughout the last few years.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 - 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Terry Shillington officiating.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Bill, the family asks that donations be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Mr. Kerr was a kind and thoughtful man. We got to meet him when he was a bus driver as he would always drop our boys off close to our home rather than make them walk an extra block or stop the bus and wait for them when they were late in the morning. He remembered them and chatted with our family regularly at the Hurricanes games and would call them by their names despite the number of years that had passed. May loving memories sustain you.
My deepest condolences to everyone. I'm so sorry to hear about Uncle Bill. Know that even though family is far away , you are very close in our hearts.
