ROBERT "BOB" KENNEDY, beloved husband of the late Mary Christine Kennedy, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Lethbridge on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the age of 74 years.
ROBERT "BOB" KENNEDY, beloved husband of the late Mary Christine Kennedy, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Lethbridge on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the age of 74 years.
Bob is survived by his son Mike (Maureen) Kennedy, grandsons Spencer and Adam Kennedy, siblings Gary (Linda) Kennedy, Chris (Cathy) Kennedy, Philip (Valerie) Kennedy and Mary (Carl) Fulton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his loving wife Mary Christine Kennedy, he was predeceased by his brother Brian Kennedy.
Bob was born in St John, New Brunswick on Jan 3,1944 to Beverly Kennedy and Lois Mitchell. He grew up in Youngs Cove, New Brunswick where he had many fond memories of the times he spent on the Kennedy wharf. Bob always dreamt of the day when he would return home to New Brunswick. Bob worked for CP Rail for 24 years and for Transport Canada for 13 years. He married Chris in 1967 and in 1969 their son Mike was born, he was Bob's pride and joy. Bob would often refer to Mike as his #1 son.
Bob worked in Calgary for Transport Canada where he would eventually retire in 1999. In 2014 he moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to be closer to his family. Bob had many great qualities, those that knew him will forever remember him for his unique ability to remember so many details. He always remembered dates and numbers so well.
Bob had a big heart and would do anything for anyone in need. He would be happy to sit and have a beer with anyone who would lend an ear. Bob's proudest moments were spent at whatever sporting event his grandsons were playing in. His most favorite of them all was going to the hockey rink to cheer them on.
In his last few years he passed the time sharing many laughs with his good friend Ellie Whitehead while watching whatever sporting event was on TV, except for curling, Ellie would have to do that on her own.
Bob will be missed by many.
As per Bob's wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life held back in New Brunswick in Youngs Cove at a later date. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
For those who wish, we will have a get together to share our memories of Bob over a cold beverage at BIG AL'S BAR & GRILL - 1915 31 St SE, Calgary, AB on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
We would like to thank Lethbridge Family Services for all the wonderful care they have provided our dad over these past four years. Bob was fortunate enough to have some of the kindest, most caring and thoughtful people help him each and every day.

We are very sorry to hear of Big Bobs sudden passing as we spoke with him just last week and he sounded the strongest we heard in a long time....He very proudly updated us on all the family He surely will be missed by all the lives he touched.Our sincere condolences to Mike Maureen Spencer and Adam. I grew up next door to Bob,and the other Kennedy boys.We are the same age and I have countless fond memories of Bob,Gary, and I doing all the things country boys did then.I will miss him.
Our family were close to the Kennedys when we were all growing up,,,I know he will be missed,,sorry for your loss

Mike, Maurine and boys, thank you for having us over to see Bob last summer., it was a good time. We were sad to hear the news of Cousin Bob's passing. He was a great guy and a great friend. Always quick to lend a hand. Bob stayed with us one winter to help out with barn work as my Dad was away working and I was too young (10) to do the work myself. Bob was someone I always looked up to as he took pride in all he did, be it work or play. Rest easy my friend, no more potatoes to pick or pens to clean.
Bob phoned me this past Friday evening. As usual we spoke about anything and everything about what went on in the CTC, Transport, CP Rail and family. He was so proud of his grandson who is quite the hockey player. Bob was a good friend and I will miss our monthly conversations. Peter Strachan

Bob was so proud of you all Mike, Mo, Spencer & Adam. I remember going to a rink in Calgary watching Adam play hockey. Bob arrived with a big box of Tims donuts for a treat for the boys - thoughtful as always. He was a great story teller & had the hardiest laugh that made us all enjoy a laugh often with tears running down our cheeks from laughing. We had a great conversation with him just a week ago. I told him I always marvelled at his amazing memory. He always asked about everyone by name & always remembered their birthdates. May you enjoy your reunion with Chris & our many family members my dear.
The world was a better place knowing that you were in it, we had fun while it lasted, always a smile to share or a drink to drink " herring chocker from New Brunswick and Proud of it " Forever peace.
I was so sorry to hear this news. May Cousin Bob be at peace, knees not hurting and having a beer with Christine, his uncles & aunt. If we're missing a few ears of corn this reunion, everyone will know who is visiting.
Bob was blessed in so many ways by his #1 son and family . He was a good friend to many and yes, loved the east coast. By now his soul has been welcomed by many and I can hear his laugh and his story telling. Maybe he will sing Hello Walls! May he Rest In Peace.
