Kaufmann, Michael

Today we lost a beautiful voice, husband, father and grandfather. MICHAEL KAUFMANN passed away peacefully on June 4, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
He is survived by his beloved wife Colleen, his children Susanne (Rick) LaFournie, Beverly (Art) Bullis, Adrian (Lorraine) and James, as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Michael is also remembered by his sisters Theresa Krol, Irma, Eva and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters.
Michael was born on June 24, 1936 in Jarkowatz, Yugoslavia to Johann and Susanna Kaufmann. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada where he worked as a carpenter. His love for music took him to Calgary for 5 years to study voice. In 1971 he returned to Lethbridge with his growing family to be nearer to his aging parents. Music was always a driving force in his life and he shared his beautiful voice with anyone who would listen. Upon retiring, he took up painting and baking. He loved to share all these things with his family and friends and encouraged them to explore their own talents as well.
He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for whom he always had a hug and kisses, his children that he dedicated his life to and his wife for his friendship, loving kindness and devotion.
At Michael's request, there will be no Funeral Service.
Donations in memory of Michael may be made to St. Michael's Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, 1400-9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., T1J 4V5.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of St. Michael's Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, especially Celeste and Jessica.
