In 2012, Katrina started work at Blackbridge Geomatics in Lethbridge now called Planet. She was a Data Processing Technician, working on Satellite imagery. We were informed that she was a very talented person on the team with an amazing skill for fine details, a team player who was always willing to help other team members. Her supervisors thought she was highly motivated, enthusiastic, and hard working. Katrina had a calmness around work, around people and was extremely satisfied and committed to her job. She saved diligently and was able to buy her first house in 2014.
Katrina loved going out with her friends for pot-luck dinners, movies & board games. She played board games with a local group and online, she played games weekly with an international gaming group in the early hours of Sunday morning, so often had to nap before coming over to her parents place Sunday afternoons. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her dad. Katrina sponsored/supported artists, especially at craft fairs in Lethbridge. Katrina’s friends talk about her kindness, support, a sense of humour and adventure. They all say she was an amazing friend and person. Katrina also enjoyed writing poetry and stories, reading, medieval, ancient and archaeology history, going to concerts, attending a Star Trek convention with her dad and mom, playing the flute and piano and spending time with her family.

Heartfelt condolences to you Laurie and Blair. I send thoughts of compassion and comfort as you navigate this loss of your precious daughter. Words become inadequate. I will hold you in prayer.
Laurie and Blair Words cannot express how my heart is broken for you. Katrina’s life was a blessing in a dark world . Her legacy is an inspiration to everyone, young and old.
I only knew Kate through digital means: gaming streams, chat rivers, and live board game play throughs. Her wit, kindness, and charm were a staple for me over the past several years. She will be missed, her kind of light touched many. My condolences to her family and friends. Sincerely, Dan Roberts
Kate was one of those rare people who made the world feel lighter just by being in it. Every Sunday, what started as a simple routine of board gaming became something far more meaningful because of her. It wasn’t just about the games—it was about the laughter she brought, the way she could turn even the smallest moment into something memorable, and the joy she shared so freely. She had a gift for humor that felt effortless. Whether she was joking about life, teasing us over a tough game decision, or sharing another story about the strange and unpredictable weather in her area, she kept us smiling. Those moments weren’t just funny—they were grounding, comforting, and full of life. Kate was more than a friend across a game table. She was a true light in our lives and in the community around her. The kind of person people gravitate toward, the kind you don’t forget. Her warmth, her wit, and her presence made every gathering better, and every absence now feels deeply. Sundays won’t be the same without her, and neither will we. But the memories she gave us—the laughter, the friendship, the countless shared moments—will always stay with us. We will miss her more than words can say.
I had the pleasure of working with Katrina for the past 13 years at Blackbridge and later Planet. Over this time she became a wonderful friend as well as a work colleague, and will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to her parents, Laurie and Blair, as well as her many extended family members. I feel lucky to have known Katrina and will cherish the memories we shared over the years.
I have wonderful memories of going over to Blair and Laurie’s to stay with Katrina so that her mom and dad had a rare night out as they were adjusting to their new roll as parents. She was very easy to take of but I brought my son Lance with me as he was too young to stay home alone. The sudden loss of my niece and watching the pain my brother and my sister-in-law are experiencing has been tough. I and others in the family will miss the times that could have been while treasuring the experiences we shared. Denise
My heartfelt condolences to you Laurie & Blair and the rest of the family on the loss of precious Katrina. She was a beacon of light to many. Sending love and prayers. 💔❤️🩹🙏
We are sending you all our love at this very difficult time.
My heart is forever broken for you both. Love your sister Lenore
