CAROL ANNE KAPRAL, beloved wife of the late Pete Kapral, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the age of 80 years.
Carol is survived by her sons Jack (Karen) of Fruitvale, B.C., and Peter of Lethbridge, grandchildren: Jay (Brianna), Mandy, Kayla, Peter J and Angela and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Jim (Shirley), Tom (Bonnie), Grant (Linda) and Joan (Mike).
She was predeceased by her son Robert, mother Garda (Woolf), father Ephriam Allan Bateman, and sister Barbara Leavitt (Jerry).
Carol was born and raised in Cardston. After marrying her husband Peter in 1960, they moved to Australia for Peter's employment in the drilling industry. She had her first two sons, Jack and Peter Jr. and came back to Canada in 1965. In 1966, she welcomed her third son, Robert, in Fort Nelson, BC. In 1967, she followed her husband to Algeria for two years. She returned to Cardston where her mom, Garda always had a house. In 1973, she followed her husband to Iran, where they lived for six years, with annual trips back to Canada. The highlight of that is that she got to bring her mom over for an excursion including tours in London and Athens. When she moved back, she spent time living in Edmonton, St. John's, NL, and Calgary. When Peter retired, they moved back to Cardston and ran the Payless gas station and diner for five years. They closed the business after the passing of Carol's beloved mom, Garda in 1990. In 1991, her husband, Peter, also passed away. She remained in Cardston until she started her career as a camp cook on the drilling rigs. She lived with her son, Peter Jr. in Pincher Creek and friends in Edmonton. After her career came to an end, she lived in Cardston again, until illness forced her to take a room in Lethbridge nursing homes until her passing.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 - 11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Steve Bateman officiating.
