JOSEPHINE LEROHL, beloved wife of the late Christopher Lerohl, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the age of 97 years. Josephine was born March 21, 1911 on the farm north of Foremost, Alberta. Josephine was one of nine children born to Phillip and Maria Bechthold. She married Chris on July 9, 1931 and they farmed in the Knappen, Aden area, before moving to Lethbridge in 1945. Since August 1999 she has resided at the Golden Acres Lodge, Lethbridge, until her passing. Josephine crocheted over 3,000 blanket squares for Canada Blankets while living in the lodge. Josephine was hard working, gentle and a very caring lady. Josephine is survived by her two daughters, Frances (Roy) Kinsey and Bertha Pierson; four grandchildren, Donna Marie Madge, Garry Mercer, Brenda (Doug) Beer, and Cheryl Pierson; seven great grandchildren, Roxann (Dave) Fontaine, DJ Mantler (Dustin Rarick), Crystal (Justin) Smith, Aaron (Leanne) Pierson, Christine Pierson (Colby Virostek), Breana and Kris Beer; three great great grandchildren, Brok and Quinn Fontaine and Brelyn Smith; a granddaughter-in-law, Karen Pierson; and a sister-in-law Margaret Bechthold, all of Lethbridge, Alberta. Josephine is also survived by two half-sisters, Elice Schipper and Viola Goss; one half-brother, Ludwig Bechthold in the U.S.A.; and many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Chris in 1978; her granddaughter Joanne Mercer in 1962; her grandson Brian Pierson in 2000; her grand-son-in-law, Randy Madge in 2008; her son-in-law, Arthur (Smokey) Pierson in 2008; her mother; her five brothers, Henry (Ora), George (Myrtle), John (Margaret), and Richard (Gerda) Bechthold; Baby Karl #1; her sister Esther (Charlie) Beattie in Canada; her father and stepmother, her sister, Helen (Henry) Shuch; Baby Karl #2; her two-half sisters, Mary and Elizabeth; and her four half-brothers, Phillip, Clifford, Ernest and Charles in the U.S.A. A private family service will be held at a later date.
