At the tender age of 58 years, Michele Lynn Jones (née Emery) passed peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
She had fought the good fight for three weeks assisted by the kind and caring staff of CRH's Intensive Care Unit. Our family extends its sincere gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses for their high degree of professionalism and warm human interaction during Michele's illness and subsequent passing. The pneumonia she battled proved to be an overwhelming force. Our loss has since become the gain of Heaven and its Angels
Michele is lovingly cherished by her husband of 35 years, Bradley "Brad" Jones of Lethbridge. She will be sadly missed by her older brother, Richard "Rick" Emery, her younger sister, Nancy (Bruce) Smith, and her father, Robert "Bob" (Maxine) Emery, all of Lethbridge. Michele's two nephews, Richard Emery Jr. and Michael "Mikey" Emery, held a cherished place in her heart. She also had two special friends, Marilyn Brown and Vi Hickman, who will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Ethel Baird (née Rohaly, d. 2013), her maternal grandparents, Frank (d. 1991) & Ethel Rohaly (d. 1987), her paternal grandparents, Ted (d. 1974) & Gertrude Emery (d. 1996), and her parents-in-law, Melford "Mel" (d. 2008) & Pearl Jones (d. 2007) of Carberry, MB.
Michele is also survived by her beloved fur baby, Punky—the 'Yorkshire Terrorist' and the 200-pound territorial guardian of the backyard in a 4.5-pound body. She was the apple of Momma's eye, the joy in her heart, and the living proof that "dog" spelled backwards is the tangible evidence of unconditional love. During our time together, we've had the honour, privilege and blessing of having three canines prior to Punky. Michele called the first one "her teacher". Sprite "T" showed Michele that animals have souls. Sprite "T" was smart as a whip and constantly kept Michele on her toes. The second one was Kayla and she had a special relationship with Michele. The third one was a rescue named Kelti and was just a beautiful soul. All three would have been on the "Rainbow Bridge" anxiously waiting for Michele to cross over and be with them again.
Michele worked at St. Therese Villa. She had been employed by Aramark Canada for 11 years and 11 months, serving the evening meals on West one. Michele loved being of service and cherished the special relationships she forged with the residents and coworkers. She often commented that she did it out of a sense of loyalty and duty rather than monetary compensation.
Michele wished to have a simple cremation and be united with the ashes of her previous three fur babies: Sprite "T" (Spidey), Kayla (BoBo Bear) and Kelti (Winkie). She requested there be no formal memorial service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your local humane society would have pleased her to no end.
Love to you all, until we meet again.
