JOLAN THOMPSON

JOLAN ‘RESS’ THOMPSON, beloved wife of Richard (Dick) Thompson of Kipp passed away at the Calgary Foothills Hospital after a very short illness on Friday November 28th at the age of 66; she was surrounded by her family and pastor at the time. Jolan was born in Hungary on September 12th, 1942. She came to Canada in 1957 and married Steve Ress in 1960 and had three children; James, John and Sue Ress. She was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1980. In 1987 she met Dick and in 1990 they were married and resided in Kipp for the past 19 years. Besides her loving husband Dick, Jolan is survived by her three children James, John and Sue Ress. She is also survived by Dick’s family, Peggy (Hugh) Lumley, Jeff Thompson, Laura (Gary) Richardson, Mindy (Colin) Weir and all of our grandchildren, Krystal Ress, Riley and Colten Lumley, Brad and Michelle Richardson, Evan, Aimee and Adam Weir. She was also looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild in December by Krystal. Jolan is also survived by her mother, Margaret Lakotos, and her sister Anne (Ben) Vredegoor and brother Steve (Carol) Vajda and their families, as well as numerous relatives in Canada and some in Hungary. She was predeceased by her father Bert Lakotos, Frank Szing, Steve Ress, Jennifer Ress, Mickey and Mary Ress, and Lawrence and Svea Thompson. Jolan was a very caring and loving person, a true Christian and loved the Lord, always putting God first and was willing to help someone and anyone in need. Jolan especially enjoyed working with the seniors and doing what she could for the Victory Church. Jolan will always be remembered by everyone, even the nurses at the Foothills Hospital for her ’little habit of straightening things up for people whether they liked it or not’. A visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME 2800 MAYOR MAGRATH DRIVE SOUTH on Thursday December 4th from 6:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at VICTORY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, Lethbridge, 1 mile east of Lethbridge on HWY 3, on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Morris Watson officiating. Interment to follow at Archmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Streets Alive, 323 4 Street South Lethbridge, AB T1J 1Z9, in Jolan’s name or whatever is on your heart.
