Dr. Ralph Johnson, beloved husband of Carol for the last 59 years, passed away suddenly at home in Lethbridge on Monday March 22 at the age of 86 years.
Along with Carol he is survived by his family; David (Debbie) of Victoria, Sydony (Alan) of Taber, Leslie (Edward) of Lethbridge, and Jeffery (Theresa) of Perth Australia. He will be deeply missed by his 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Ralph began practicing medicine in Lethbridge in 1957 as a Specialist in General Surgery with the Campbell Clinic. In addition to helping to raise the family he also found the time to pursue many other interests including woodworking, welding, electrical, golf, jewellery making, and cartooning. He loved to play the piano and the organ, and we enjoyed his melodic serenades.
After retiring from his medical practice in 1984, he turned his attention to other endeavours in our community. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club for many years and served on the Board of the Lethbridge Foundation. He taught Spanish at the Seniors Center, and he built sets for New West Theatre productions.
We will all miss his quest for knowledge, his thought provoking questions, his rapier wit, and the caring he showed for all the people he met along the way.
A Memorial Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, Scenic Drive Chapel, 2410-28th Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 1:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ralph may be made to the Kiwanis Music Festival Trust Fund, PO Box 125, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 3Y3, or to the St. Michael’s Health Care Foundation, Palliative Care, 1400 - 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5
