John Russell
John was born in Toronto, Ontario, to parents George and Mildred Russell, and was a big brother to Patricia “Pat”. In his teenage years, his passion for fast cars led him to become an outstanding Specialized Automotive Engineer. In John’s 20s, he embarked on many exciting travel adventures with the love of his life, Gayle (née Jackson), where they traveled the world together. They settled briefly in Thunder Bay, Ontario and had a beautiful daughter, Lisa. The three of them continued to find travel adventures, but this time in an RV that was handcrafted by this intrepid Automotive Engineer with a zest for life!

They eventually settled in Calgary, AB, where home renovations seemed to attract both John and Gayle for many years until it was time to pick up sticks and move to the sunny Okanagan, where new adventures awaited. Their daughter Lisa married, and John and Gayle were delighted to become grandparents to Freya Claire Hudspeth. It turns out that Freya is following in her grandpa’s footsteps with a keen interest in cars and a deep desire to become a mechanical engineer. John’s cherished Snap-on tools will be passed down to his granddaughter to continue the tradition.
Gayle, Lisa, Freya, and Pat (Robbie) and all our family hope you will join us in remembering John and how he touched our lives. We will miss this fine man!
As per John’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Cremation is entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

So, so sorry for all of you who loved John so and will miss him so much... and especially for my dear friend Pat, losing her only sibling and the last of her immediate family. He was treasured - and I hope, eventually, your memories of him will also be treasures.
A great write-up for this handsome man Gayle. He will be missed
