JOHN MARTIN MOTYCKA, beloved husband of Anne Motycka, of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the age of 79 years.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by Garry (Leslie) Motycka of Lethbridge, AB., Karl (Josje) Motycka of Okotoks, AB., Ron (Rina) Motycka of Raymond, AB., Francie Martin (Jim Mahood) of Edmonton, AB., Jean (Greg) Kautz of Calgary, AB., Judy Collett of Lethbridge, AB. and John B. Motycka (Pat Forhan) of Taber, AB. 14 grandchildren: Nick Motycka, Kurt (Christy) Motycka, Ben Martin, Riley Martin, Lauren Kautz, Edward (Chantele) Motycka, Derek Kautz, Keith Martin, Gayle Motycka, Matthew Sekura, Eric Motycka, Kevin Motycka, Joyce Motycka and Bonnie Motycka. two great-grandchildren: Kade and Kenna Motycka.
He is also survived by one brother: Frank Velba, four sisters: Mary Zezulka, Lydia (John) Brunner, Rose Chollak (Ed Hamel) and Jennie (Al) Machacek and sister-in-law Doreen Motycka as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Jennie Motycka, step father Martin Velba, brother Steve Motycka, two brothers-in-law: Louis Zezulka and Eugene Chollak.
John was born in Raymond, Alberta, June 9, 1930. At a young age he took over the family farm. He married Anne on November 20, 1951.
He enjoyed scuba diving, traveling, golf and playing cards.
He was active in the Rotary Club, was Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus plus was a member of various social clubs.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great joy to him.
He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
A Prayer Service will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB. on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. with Keith Boyden officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez Celebrant.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
