JOHN HALLUK

JOHN HALLUK of Coaldale, beloved husband of 37 years to Mercedes, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 23, 2013 at the age of 68 years. John was born in Pilisborosjeno, Hungary, on February 28, 1945. As a child they lived in Chile, South America and then Germany. The family immigrated to Coaldale, AB., in 1956. In 1975 he met the love of his love, Mercedes in Calgary, Alberta at a thanksgiving party. They married shortly after. John was a long Haul truck driver for almost 30 years, and had a steady run to Los Angeles, California. One of his greatest achievements was driving over 3 million miles without an accident. John was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time with Mercedes and their new love, Dexter, “The Family Dog”.

John & Mercedes often travelled to the cabin in Montana to spend time with their son Juan and his wife Kyle. John had great stories and insights on all subjects and it was easy to lose yourself in a long conversation. He had a passion for cars, new and old.

He also enjoyed home improvements. John was always happy and enjoyed life. He will be sadly missed. Besides his loving wife Mercedes, John is survived by his son & best friend Juan (Kyle), his sister Margit (Stan) Rach, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. John was predeceased by his parents Johann & Rosa, along with his younger brother Frank.

A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 - 23 Avenue, Coaldale on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Thomas Vadassery, Celebrant.
