I remember John from the Lethbridge Trap Club and shooting clay targets with him. Great guy. My condolences to the family and his friends.
I knew John back in his DeVry days. My condolences on your loss.
The way I remember Uncle John most is standing in the Kitchen at the Cabins during Christmas. Black Fanny pack around his waist and black as coal coffee in his cup. I’m sure we have an actual photograph of this somewhere. My deepest sympathies to all of John’s family and to everyone who loved him.
John, Don Gibson and I spent our teenage years causing havock in and around Stratford Ontario. Weekend poker games in the Gibson's basement during which John would clean up! Of course the highest pot may have totaled 50 cents! Coffee and tall tales around Mrs Bain's kitchen table was a staple each week. We were best friends as we grew up during those formative teenage years. That fellowship and life lessons learned supported us in our future lives. We had plenty of good times, plus we never got caught! John had prepared us for his health issues but the final news left tears in my eyes, love in my heart and a smile for all the memories.
I worked with John in transit and we became good friends throughout the years. We would often go for coffee to catch up or chat on the phone. Our conversations were always funny and educational ! I will truly miss our chats and coffee times . I visited John in the hospital and my heart sank seeing him so ill :-( My sincere Condolences to family and both the boys, he always spoke highly and loved you both .
