MRS. KIRSTINE HANSEN JOHANSEN passed away peacefully on Monday November 7, 2011 just after her 87th birthday. Kirstine will be lovingly remembered by her son Torben, daughter Vita Baldwin, sons Jan (Annette), Ole (Bev), David (Jennifer), and daughter in law Helen, 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Kirstine was predeceased by her loving husband, Axel, her parents Emil and Marie Marcussen, infant daughter Hanne, son Andy and son in law Russell Baldwin, brother Jens and sister Agnes.

Kirstine was born on October 25, 1924 in Ottersbol, Denmark. She married Axel Johansen on November 16, 1945. In July 1957, Kirstine, Axel and their 5 children immigrated to Canada. Kirstine had her 6th child in Canada and worked very hard as a stay at home mom. They lived out on a farm for 24 years until moving into the city. On the farm she enjoyed taking care of her house, her yard, and a beautiful large garden. When she moved to the city, she started knitting for a local store. She loved to make anything from sweaters to slippers and anything in between. Her true passion was her family, whom she cooked dinner for every Sunday for many years. She was a very strong and independent person. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family. The Funeral Service will be held at THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, 2406 11th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jason Anderson officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, PO Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB., T1J 4K7, or the Canadian Diabetes Association, #204, 2323 - 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 6Z3.
