MR. AXEL ELIEF KIELSTRUP JOHANSEN, beloved husband of Mrs. Kirstine Johansen of Lethbridge passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the age of 84 years.

MR. AXEL ELIEF KIELSTRUP JOHANSEN, beloved husband of Mrs. Kirstine Johansen of Lethbridge passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the age of 84 years.

Besides his wife of 60 years Kirstine, he is lovingly remembered by his son Torben, daughter Vita, sons Jan (Annette), Ole (Bev), David (Jennifer), daughter in law Helen, 22 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Axel was predeceased by his parents, brothers, sister, infant daughter Hanne, son Andy and son in law Russell Baldwin.

Axel was born October 10, 1921 in Soby, Denmark and married Kristine on November 16, 1945. In July 1957, the Johansen Family immigrated to Canada. They settled in the Coaldale area, Where Axel worked as a dairyman for 24 years before moving into Lethbridge, Prior to his retirement, Axel worked for the City of Lethbridge Parks Department. His love for plants blossomed and in later years it was not uncommon to see large, beautifully tended weeds in Dad's flowers. Axel had a lifelong passion for sports. He attended L.A.A., American Legion and W.H.L sporting events, where he was the greatest fan/coach.

Funeral Services will be held at THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, 2406-11 Avenue South, Lethbridge AB on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 1:00 P.M with Reverend Kevin Powell officiating.

Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
