MR. JAMES “JIM” PATRICK JOEVENAZZO, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Anne Joevenazzo, passed away at the Good Samaritans, West Highlands on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the age of 93 years. Jim is the loving father of Arnel (Joyce) of Lethbridge, Keith (Sylvia) of Vulcan, Patricia (Mike) Kensley of Lethbridge and Terry (Wendy) of Calgary. Jim is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Jill Joevenazzo, Chris (Andrea), Greg (Trina) and Mark Joevenazzo, Riley (Serena), Paul and Jenelle Feller, Tabitha, Larkin and Luke Joevenazzo, 2 great-grandchildren Lia and Jake Joevenazzo, brothers Frank (Ivy) Joevenazzo and Ron (Bea) Joevenazzo, both of Lethbridge, sisters-in-law Audrey Giovinazzo of Lethbridge, Edna Kennedy and Bee Nelson of Victoria, B.C. and their families as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Anne in March 2010, great grandson Anthony, son-in-law Joe Feller and siblings Nina, Angelina, Alfred, Arthur and Josy. Jim was born on March 24, 1917 in Lethbridge. He was raised and educated here and went on to the Calgary Normal School to get his teaching certificate. He carried on to get his Bachelor of Education in Edmonton in 1964. Jim taught at Plain Butte, Keho, Wallace, Picture Butte schools, St. Patrick’s, St. Joseph’s and when St. Mary’s School opened he was the Inaugural Principal, mentoring many students, teachers and future principals before retiring in 1980. Jim loved gardening with geraniums being his favourite flower. He also enjoyed woodworking and volunteering. Jim was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a staunch believer in its values. Family was the most important thing to him. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports and was an avid sports enthusiast, from a coach to a fan. He was a shareholder and supporter to the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Jim was a kind, gentle man who had a calming influence and spoke many words of wisdom. He was a caring compassionate person who will be sadly missed. A Prayer Service will be held at the OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at the OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Tim Boyle Celebrant.
