JOANNE HYDE

JOANNE BETH (MUNRO) HYDE, beloved wife of Don Hyde of Lethbridge passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital, after a lengthy and courageous battle with non-alcoholic liver disease on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the age of 65 years. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her son Jayson (Deb) Munro of Lethbridge and their sons Brady and Mark, and Deb’s family; Verna (Gabe) Mabin and Colby Auld and families of Lethbridge. She is also survived by Don’s family Jody (Darryl) Bohle and their sons Benjamin and Nicholas of Lethbridge; Leslie Garcia and her children, Sian and Bruce of Red Deer; and extended family Karen McPhail, Barb (Darryl), and Janice Carson, brother Bill Munro (Shelley) of Lethbridge, one nephew Max, 3 cousins Joe (Joan) Watson and family of Picture Butte, Peggy Watson and family of Picture Butte and Ada Watson and family of Edmonton. She was predeceased by parents Robert and Ruth and numerous cousins. Joanne Hyde was born in Lethbridge, May 20, 1943. She was raised in Picture Butte by loving and faithful parents Ruth and Robert. As a child Joanne delighted her family, relatives and friends with her amazing singing talent and her gregarious personality. Joanne was actively involved in many clubs and organizations for her entire life. Joanne’s tremendous faith in God, whom she called Papa, inspired those around her to keep going in spite of what difficulty they faced. Much of Joanne’s life and energy was spent offering service to the many 12 step programs she was involved in over the last 50 years. Joanne’s service to the fellowship offered many suffering souls refuge, hope, and faith. She has a voracious appetite for knowledge about everything, and would spend hours each day reading, pondering and praying about what she had read. She believed soundly that ‘we are never alone’ and ’that God would do for us what we could not do for ourselves’. Besides her deep love and commitment to the 12 step programs Joanne loved music. Her minister told her that her voice was anointed, and all who had the opportunity to hear her sing, would certainly agree. Though Joanne’s passing may extinguish an earthly light, the lights of all the many she served throughout the years will continue to shine on thanks to her. Joanne’s life’s commitment to serve God, and those around her, is best described in this AA 7th step prayer: My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and to my fellows. Grant me the strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding. Amen. A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will be held at The LETHBRIDGE CHRISTIAN TABERNACLE, 1805-9th Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bill Roycroft officiating. Interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Joanne, donations may be made to A.F.G. ‘Easy Does It’, 801 - 13 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2W9.
