Senneker, Joan

October 27, 1956

December 25, 2025

Joan Leslie Senneker, born October 27th, 1956, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 25th 2025 in Lethbridge, AB.

Joan called southern Alberta home during her life, living in Foremost, Vauxhall, Duchess and Lethbridge. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher and friend, whose life was defined by the person of Jesus, whose love, peace and joy radiated through her in the service to others.

Joan was predeceased by her father, Gordon Nicoll; mother Helen Nicoll (Martens); and her grandson Trustin Senneker. She is survived by her loving husband, Dirk Senneker; her brothers, Bruce Nicoll (Marian), and Bill Nicoll; sister Gail Knoepfle (Dan); and her four cherished children: Aaron Senneker (Jackie), Stephanie Monalo (Jonzoon), Jessica Ripplinger (Mike) and Daniel Senneker (Rachel). Joan was also an adoring grandmother to Maui, Messien, Lakey, Norah, Chay, Gabriel, Everly and Lancelot.

Joan served as an elementary teacher in Hays and Vauxhall, AB, before meeting the romantic love of her life Dirk Senneker, they married on July 24th 1982 (43 years). After having children and moving to Duchess AB, Joan transitioned to homeschooling her four children for many years before returning to teach in the schools. In 2015, both Joan and Dirk fully retired and moved to Lethbridge where she enjoyed riding bike, attending Bible study, playing piano, worshiping Jesus, baking, cooking and hosting family events in her home.

Joan was a Godly woman, whose life reflected the character of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, spending many Sundays playing piano and singing on the worship team at Third Day Church in Lethbridge. Her faith was evident not just in speech but also in action as a dedicated prayer warrior, with her good friend and prayer partner Lynda Shimoda, diligently lifting up their community and interceding on behalf of many.

Her legacy of faith and love in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will live on for generations as a great inheritance to them. As she would often quote, Psalms 16:6, “the boundary lines have fallen on pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” As well as Psalms 46:10 “be still and know that I am God.”

A Celebration of Joan’s life will be announced in the spring of 2026.
