Jimmie Ray Welch

JIM WELCH, beloved husband of Arlene Welch, of Cardston, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, December 12th, 2014 at the age of 83 years.

Besides his loving wife Arlene, Jim is remembered by his family, James (Lisa) of Glenwood, AB, Ken (Elisabeth) of Sweden, Bill of Calgary, Linda (Dwayne) Huber on a farm S.E. of Cardston, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild.

Jim is also survived by one brother Glen (Virgina) Welch of Wainwright, AB.

He was predeceased by his father Henry in 1971, mother Lillian in 1988 and a sister Hazel in 1985.

Jim accomplished much in his life including raising four children. He was a farmer and rancher for more than 80 years. He was compassionate, thoughtful and a honorable man who loved his family and animal companions. Jim loved the country way of life. He spent all 83 years of his life on the farm south and east of Cardston, near the Milk River Ridge. In the last few years of his life, he was able to climb on his ATV, and ride out to the pasture to check on his cows. He was truly happy then. His quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew him. He will be sadly missed as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

A private family service will be held at a later date with his cremated remains scattered on his farm.

In memory of Jim, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta, 1254-3 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0J9.
