WILLIAM "BILL" JANZEN, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Janzen, of Coaldale, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Coaldale Health Centre, on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 91 years.
Bill was born in Zaporizhia Ukraine, in 1929 to Abram and Anna Janzen. During World War II, the family fled the Ukraine and took refuge in the area of Bavaria, Germany. Bill lived with his family for many of his teenage years in Heringnohe (Germany), where dad worked as a general laborer. When the family emigrated to Canada, they arrived in central Canada, before finally settling in the Coaldale Alberta Region. Bill spent many years working on the farm, putting his four brothers and one sister through school. While working here, Bill met his late wife Dorothy. In the ensuing years, Bill and Dorothy had two children, Tim and Ken. Bill raised his children while farming and owning/operating a jewelry store and flower shop. Over the years, Bill was heavily involved in the music community, conducting both the Coaldale Mennonite Church Choir and The German Canadian Male Choir for many years. He also played the clarinet and enjoyed listening to many styles of music. Bill will be remembered fondly and missed by his sons Ken, Tim (Corrine) grandchildren (Leonard & Gideon), as well as a great many others whose lives he has touched.
William will be laid to rest with Dorothy in the Coaldale Cemetery in a private family service at a later date.
