JAMES BLACKMER

MR. JAMES P. ‘JIM’ BLACKMER, beloved husband of Mrs. Thelma Blackmer of Milk River, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children; Raymond (Joyce) Blackmer of Milk River, Linda (David) Belisle of Lethbridge, Peggy (Randy) Plomp of Calgary, Dave (Denise) Blackmer of Coutts, Tom (Linda) Blackmer of Medicine Hat, Kim (Rob) St Peter of Medicine Hat and Mike (Noreen) Blackmer of Coutts, 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James R. in 1987, parents Russel and Maude and grandchildren Paul Blackmer and Kevin Belisle. James was born March 15, 1924 on the family farm. He was raised and educated in Southern Alberta. He met Thelma Harris and they were married October 10, 1942 and together they farmed east of Coutts and raised their family of 8. James was proud to be involved as a County Reeve and served on Southern boards. He was actively involved in the community. He was a charter member of the K of C. Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River, on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Milk River on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. A private family interment will follow the luncheon. In memory of James, donations may be made to the Milk River Golf Course, 202 - 1st Avenue South, Milk River, AB, T0K 1M0 or to the Coutts Cemetery Fund, c/o Village of Coutts, 105 Centre Avenue, Coutts, AB, T0K 0N0.
