It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of JACK ARLAN SCHIMPF. After receiving his “golden dove” for successfully battling cancer, Jack passed away suddenly on January 6, 2010 at the age of 71 years.
Born in Barons, AB. on December 18, 1938, Jack was raised in Coalhurst, AB., where he met the love of his life, Lorraine. They married on September 3, 1960 and began a home in Lethbridge. Their son David was born in 1963, after which they lived in Calgary for several years. After returning to the Lethbridge area, their son Darrell was born in 1974. Jack worked various jobs including Juris Livestock in Picture Butte, cattle hauling, and at National Salvage where he worked until his retirement.
Jack leaves to mourn his wife Lorraine, sons David (Phyllis) Schimpf and Darrell (Kimberly) Schimpf, along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves siblings Ron (Shirl) Schimpf, Doreen (Rick) Bartier, Clancy (Dee) Schimpf, Wayne Schimpf, Terry (Bonnie) Schimpf, and Sharon (Terry) Gilewicz, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is predeceased by his infant son Rory Arlan, parents Philip and Eva, and siblings Walter, Alfred, and Elsie.
Jack loved his role as a father and grandfather, he took great pride in his children and loved spoiling his grandchildren. His contagious smile, distinct laughter, and joyful teasing touched the lives of all that knew him. His humour, love, courage and strength will never be forgotten.
At Jack’s request, a Private Family Celebration will be held in his honour on Saturday, January 16, 2010. Anyone wishing to send condolences may mail them to Apt. A 421-28th Street South Lethbridge AB T1J 3S7 c/o Lorraine Schimpf.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of The Cancer Centre at the Chinook Regional Hospital.
