IRMA STRAFEHL-HORN, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Irma will be lovingly missed and always remembered by Daughter Toni Dieser of Lethbridge, Grandchildren Karen (Allan) Gukert, Rachel, Ryan, Aaron; Debi (Peter) Andersen of Delta, B.C.; Mark (Andrea) Dieser, Ethan of Lethbridge. Daughter Christel Bradley of Surrey, B.C., Grandchildren Tim (Debbie) Bradley, Tyler, Kayli, Simone Ashe of Vernon, B.C., Vanessa, Amanda, Marissa, Taylor, Melissa, Emily and Haley; Jeff (Lisa) Bradley, Caleb; Matt Bradley. Grandchildren Michelle Strafehl (Mike), Vanessa, Codi, Graham; Jennifer McNiel, Mariah and Savannah. Brother-in-law Oscar (Frieda) Strafehl; sister-in-law Marie Stelke, brother-in-law Jim Williams, one niece and four nephews. As well as, two very special friends Karen and Richard Marthiensen. Irma was predeceased by her parents, husband Siegfried Strafehl; second husband Ernst Horn; brother Erwin; sister Lucy; son Erwin; and great-grandson baby Owen. Irma was born in Moscow, Russia on January 17, 1915. The family relocated to Kaunus, Lithuania in order to take over the family hardware and jewelry store before WWII. In 1939, Irma married Siegfried Strafehl and moved to Lethbridge in 1948. Irma and Siegfried enjoyed a life together active in the German Canadian Club since its inception. She held various positions in the German Canadian Club including Registrar, Membership and Women’s Auxiliary. For many years Irma was successful in representing the German Canadian Club in the Ethnic Association. Irma was an extremely talented seamstress, specializing in wedding and bridesmaid dresses. Her passion was to entertain her family and friends. She loved to cook and bake while taking great pride in her home and garden. A Funeral Service will be held at CHRIST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 416-12 Street South, Lethbridge, on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Kevin Powell officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
