WILMA ROSE HUNT "Pokotan" (Little Daughter), beloved wife of Ditty Long Time Squirrel, passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the age of 55 years.

Wilma was raised by her parents Willie and Margret Hunt (Badman) on the north end of the Blood Reserve until their passing. Wilma was then cared for by her aunts and uncles.

Wilma attended school at LCI where she met the love of her life, Ditty Long Time Squirrel. Wilma loved playing fast ball and was known as a fierce first baseman, winning multiple trophies and awards. Wilma raised her children, Nathan and Nicole Long Time Squirrel on the north end of the Blood Reserve in her home. Her children were always pushed to succeed and try hard. With her at their side, anything was possible. She was so proud of them in everything they did.

Wilma was a hard worker, dedicated to serving her community. She was a passionate Personal Care Attendant, a pleasant Medical Driver, and a loving Health Care Aide. Wilma started working with Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. in 2002, periodically to 2021. She worked right up until she could no longer work due to illness. Her fellow coworkers have been by her side with encouragement and support throughout Wilma's illness. Just recently they planned the Friends of Wilma Gala which was a beautiful event for all that attended. Wilma was so moved by this kind gesture.

Wilma enjoyed nothing more than raising her granddaughter and spending time with her grandsons. Wilma would move mountains to see her grandchildren's wishes come true. They will have many cherished memories to remember grandma by such as their trips to Disneyland, the zoo, Drumheller and the mountains. She gave them all the love she could as their grandma, cherishing them deeply.

She was a natural care giver, raising many as her own and later becoming a caregiver to her uncle, Robert Badman. Her home was always open to her nieces and nephews and was always full of laughter. Wilma always encouraged people around her to try hard and would always give them a lending hand along the way. Wilma will forever be remembered for her vivacious sense of humor that brought so much laughter to her coworkers, friends and family. We will all have many cherished and laughable memories to remember her by.

Her hobbies included spending time with loved ones, taking drives, visits with her friends, attending softball games, tournaments, and watching the Oilers play hockey. 

Wilma leaves behind her husband Ditty Long Time Squirrel, her brothers Wesley Hunt, and Warren Hunt (Jennipher Cry Head), her son Nathan Long Time Squirrel and her daughter Nicole Long Time Squirrel (Weston Omeasoo-Knowlton), her precious and most loved granddaughter Nevaeh Long Time Squirrel and grandsons Jax Omeasoo, and Baby Weston Omeasoo.

Wilma will be reunited with her parents, Willie H Hunt, and Margret Badman, her brothers Junior Hunt, and Alvin Badman, her maternal grandmother Suzie Badman and maternal grandfather Frank Badman, her paternal grandfather Alex Hunt Sr, and grandmother Ida Mills, her aunts Nora Hunt, Clara Hunt, and Rosie Badman, her uncles Pat Hunt, and Alex Hunt Jr. and her nieces Wanetta Hunt and Carmen Day Rider, who she adored and loved.

A Wake will be held at WHITE CALF HALL, Stand Off, AB, on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be held at WHITE CALF HALL on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Rocky Brave Rock officiating.

Following the service, Wilma will be laid to rest in St. Paul's Cemetery.
