Being the only child raised by her maternal grandparents Minnie and Iron, Norah was instilled with the Blackfoot culture of compassion, language and spirituality. These traits were visible through being a mother figure to all her nieces, nephews and extended families. Norah dedicated her life to caring for her parents until their passing. Norah was an excellent home maker, cook and seamstress for her family. She made her oldest grandson's first outfit when he was only a year old. She would bead for him and sew blankets and take him for the weekend. If she had it her way, she would be the one to raise him but reluctantly she brought him back to his parents come Sunday. She loved all her grandchildren and would always have one of them with her at her house. She would come to visit and as soon as she left, one of her grandsons was in her vehicle with her to go visit. She was happy to watch them dance at pow wows no matter how cold it was she'd sit there to see them dance by. She loved family gatherings cookouts and just visiting family. She loved camping at Sundance to help her brother Roger and Cathy. She would help with anything and everything they needed. They didn't have to worry about anything. Her home was always open to anyone that came to visit. No one left without being fed and in good spirits. Laughter was a big part of Norah's life, mostly reminiscing about their childhood and family
Norah received her education at St. Paul's Indian Residential School on the Blood Reserve, Schools in the City of Lethbridge. Upon graduation in Grade 12, Norah went for cadet training down east. She worked for a number of years for Automatic Electric in Lethbridge. In 1997, Norah went to SAIT in Calgary to get her short order cook training which she graduated with honors. She was employed at the Prince of Wales in Waterton as a cook for a number of years.
Norah was known for her athletics, when she was young. She loved horseback riding, swimming and outdoor activities. She was the back catcher for the girl's fast ball team, The Original Fort Whoop Up Rattlers. Norah was known for her gentle nature her smiles, laughter, her genuine hugs and kisses. She has helped a lot of people with their issues and always listened to people when they needed someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. She loved going to garage sales in Lethbridge in her later years. She and her brother Pat would leave early Saturday morning and spend all day shopping. They would find treasures and bring them to their homes. They would always stop at the same store, Club Cigar Store for pop and chips.
She will be missed by everyone who loved her. She was everyone's friend. There will never be another Norah.
