MRS. JACOBA (COBI) HUMMEL (nee Horlings), beloved wife of the late John Hummel, of Nobleford, was called home by her eternal Lord and Savior, while surrounded by her family, on January 3, 2011 at the age of 73 years. Born September 6, 1937, raised and educated in the Netherlands, the late Cobi Hummel immigrated to Canada in 1954. She married John on August 3, 1955. They settled in the house in Nobleford in 1964 and together they raised their family with a strong faith in Christ. Cobi loved being surrounded by her family and friends at all times. No matter what time of day, you always knew that Oma had a pot of coffee on and the table could always be pulled out to fit a few more people around it. Cobi was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Cobi was also a faithful member of the Nobleford Christian Reformed Church for 48 years. Cobi is survived by her children; Lydia of Nobleford, Tjaard of Lethbridge, Wilma (Jack) Wever of Nobleford, Catherine (Norm) Dykshoorn of Hythe and Ralph (Patricia) of High River, grandchildren; April (Travis) Lyzenga, Julie (Brian) Bostwick, Robin, Shane and Robert John (Micheal) Vanderflier, Jonathan (Sharla) Hummel, Derek (Kristin) and Dale Walker, Nicholas, John, Janet (Cameron), Chad, Cobi, William and Catherine Wever, Dawnyshia, William, Andrew and Peter Dykshoorn, Shelley (Dan) Ramsey, Janet, David and Kyle Hummel, great-grandchildren; Bradley Lyzenga, John Bostwick, Daniel Fothergill, Mary Hummel, Isabella and Alyssa Walker, Damian and Jamison Halcro, Kyler, Destiny and Jaycie Walker. Cobi is also survived by siblings; Klaas (Chirstien) Horlings, Tita (Case) Hummel, Charlie (Laura) Horlings, John (Reggie) Horlings, brother-in-law Ken Sureman, in-laws; Zwaantje Everts, Arendina Geerts, Lammy Hazelaar, Willem (Diny) Hummel, Lucas (Susan) Hummel, John Groenink and numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Tjaard & Aleida Horlings, husband John (2001), son Luke (2008), daughter Janet (1984), one sister, 4 sisters-in-law and 6 brothers-in-law. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the NOBLEFORD CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 522 Highway Avenue, Nobleford on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Jordan, officiating. Interment to follow at the Nobleford/Monarch Cemetery.
