CORNELIS (CASEY) HUMMEL, beloved husband of Everdina (Tita) Hummel, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, October 15, 2020. He passed three days shy of his and Tita's 65thwedding anniversary.
CORNELIS (CASEY) HUMMEL, beloved husband of Everdina (Tita) Hummel, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, October 15, 2020. He passed three days shy of his and Tita's 65th wedding anniversary.
Casey was born on August 16, 1931 in Hollandscheveld, Drente. In 1949, he immigrated to Canada with his parents, sister Lammie, brothers Bill, Jan, and Luke. On October 18, 1955, Casey married the love of his life, Tita Horlings. Together they raised four children. Casey had many occupations during his life: a truck driver, a heavy-duty mechanic, a heard man at the Lethbridge research station, and many others. In 1975, they bought Grassy Lake Meadow Dairies, where the family farmed for 20 memorable years. In 1995, they sold the dairy farm and moved to an acreage outside Lethbridge to enjoy a more comfortable life.
Casey was a strong man that overcame many obstacles in life and health. Casey's love for his family was always shown with big hugs and teasing. Casey was a wealth of knowledge, and even when he wasn't right, he would prove you wrong! The door was always open at the Hummel house to family, friends, neighbours, or even strangers. If you needed help, Casey was still willing to lend a hand.
Casey is survived by his loving wife, Tita; children, Luke (Larosennie) Hummel and their children Casey, Adam, Noah, and Eve Hummel; Linda Hummel and her children Jennifer (Troy) Scheck and Tamara DeGroot; Christie (Geoff) Steele and their children Christopher and Jaschenka Steele; and Mark (Christel) Hummel and their children Alexandra and Lukas Hummel. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Harper and Ethan Scheck; two brothers, Bill Hummel and Luke (Susan) Hummel, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lucas and Willemina; his siblings, Roelof (Aaltje) Hummel, Christina (Jan) Groenink, Geertje (Jan) ten Hoeve, Willemina (Harm) Guichelaar, Willem Hummel, Zwaantje (Rutger) Everts, Lammy (John) Hazelaar, Arendina (Jan) Geerts, and Jan (Cobi) Hummel; son-in-law Ken Marr; sister-in-law Diny Hummel, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Private Service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM. For those who wish to attend, a livestream will be available via Casey's obituary on the Cornerstone website.

I was honoured to be a pallbearer for Oom Case. I always enjoyed coming over to visit and learn whatever knowledge and stories he had to tell. Having grown up seeing him every Sunday at church, he is the uncle I knew the best from a young age. I'll always remember his sense of humour too. I look forward to meeting Oom Case again in paradise!

Deepest condolences to Tita and all the families. We always looked forward to a few minutes spent with Casey , Casey Jr. and Adam. Casey always gave us a laugh and usually a look of surprise from the boys from a story from his past.He was a good man and is going to be missed.

Our deepest condolences to tante Tita and the children and grand children. I remember him coming by in Holland visiting his house of birth and of course the family. He had a great sense of humor and his Drents language was still in shape. Thanks for being you, rest in peace with your family and the holy father in Heaven.
We loved ome Cees , we remember him as a good men with a lot of humor , but also from time to time serious. It was nice we saw him and talk to him at the reunion
