ALFRED WILLIAM HRYWKIW passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, with his beloved wife Lillian holding him, on Sunday, November 4, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Alfred is survived by his loving wife Lillian, daughter Tamara Wyant (Adrian) and their children Spencer and Hudsyn, brothers Norman (Joyce) of Edmonton, AB, Clifford( Sandra) of Oshawa, Ontario, John (Debbie) of Courtice, ON and many nieces and nephews. Alfred was predeceased by his parents Anne Kozak from Canora, Sask., and Joseph Hrywkiw from Tadmore, Sask. as well as his sister, Joanne Dittmar. Alfred was born on February 11, 1942 and lived in Canora, Saskatchewan until he joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp. at the age of 16. His love for our country took him to Camp Borden for 4 years and to Germany for 3 years. Many lasting relationships were formed during this time and Alf attended numerous reunions with his army buddies up until September 2011. Alf worked at Syncore Drilling and ATCO Gas up until his retirement in December of 2006. He was also a licensed helicopter pilot. For anyone who ever came into contact with Alf, they would immediately be drawn to him because of his smile, humility and kindness. Alf's faith in Jesus Christ was unconditional. Alfred will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
