GEORGE HOVELING, beloved husband of the late Anne Hoveling, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael's Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit, on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

He is survived by his three children: Yvonne (Ron) Pasco of Jaffray, B. C., Michael Hoveling of Weston Priory, Vermont and Mark (Ingrid) Hoveling of Lethbridge, AB; his five grandchildren, Katherine (Kevin)Larsen, Paul (Tara) Pasco, Tonya (Braydin) Brosseau, Alyssa Hoveling and Ben Hoveling; and his seven great-grandchildren, Clara and Adelyn Larsen, Finnegan, Kilian and Juno Pasco, and John and Erin Brosseau. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jack (Lucille) Schavemaker and his special nieces and nephews Marcel (Christine) Hoveling and Leonne (Duncan) MacDonald. George will also be lovingly remembered by the Benedictine Brothers of the Weston Priory.

George was born April 10, 1926 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. A lot of his youth was spent on the streets of Amsterdam and his education was cut short because of World War II. George enlisted with the Dutch military in 1944 and served until 1950. During this time he met Anne at a dance hall in Amsterdam. They fell in love, married and immigrated to Canada in 1954 with their daughter, Yvonne. They settled in Foremost and created lifelong friendships that gave them many fond, joyful memories. George and Anne, along with Michael and Mark, moved to Lethbridge in the seventies where George found work with Lethbridge Transit. George spent many hours volunteering for the Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the camaraderie, friendships and helping others with the Knights.

George's last years were filled with volunteer work, visiting the Weston Priory, making new friends at Garden View Lodge and coming to Mark's house for Sunday meals. He especially liked desserts. We will miss him dearly.

Thank you to the kind, loving staff and residents at Garden View Lodge, the staff at St. Michael's Palliative Care and Dr. Mona Cassis. You all held a special place in George's heart.

A Celebration of George's Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.

A Graveside Service and Inurnment will take place in August 2018 in Weston Priory, Vermont, U.S.A.
