MRS. ELIZABETH “ELLY” HOPMAN, beloved wife of Mr. Gerald “Gerry” Hopman, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the age of 73 years.

Elly is survived by her husband Gerry, her sons Gary (Debbie) Hopman of Lethbridge and Gerry Hopman of Calgary as well as grandchildren; Jordan Stewart, Kailey, Jarett and Taylor Hopman. She is also survived by her 5 brothers; Matt Simons, Frank (Gladys) Simons, Pierre (Mary-Lou) Simons, Charlie (Judy) Simons and Willie (Antoinette) Simons as well as two sisters in law; Tina Simons of Lethbridge and Johanna Simons of Calgary; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Elly was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Stewart on June 7, 1997 and two brothers, Al and Joe Simons.

Elly was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister in law and friend to all who knew her. She was always ready and willing to help anyone who needed her. Elly was a very creative person who conducted her own business for many years as “Elly’s Creations”.

A Prayer Service will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.with Francis Noronha Officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Tim Boyle, Celebrant.

Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elly’s honour to the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, 1400-9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5.
