HOPKINS, JAMES WILLIAM

JAMES WILLIAM HOPKINS, Jim, Grandpa, Papa, Bunka or Papa Jim was born January 13, 1936 at the family farm in Champion, Alberta and passed away peacefully in Lethbridge Alberta on December 15, 2010 surrounded by his family. Jim leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara, his children; Bruce & Debbie Hopkins of Barons, AB, Cheri & Bob Dickhaut of Claresholm, AB, Vicki & Dave Bruner of Lethbridge, AB and Darin Hopkins of Calgary, AB, grandchildren; Kelly & Colin Thiessen of Blackfalds, AB, Echo & Ivan Reimer of Grande Prairie, AB, Cheyenne Hopkins & Craig Ambler of Lethbridge, AB, Makayla Biddlecombe of Lethbridge, AB and Kaden Biddlecombe of Lethbridge, AB, great grandchildren Kail & Logan Reimer, Peyton Thiessen and Jace Ambler, brother Nick & Yvonne Hopkins of Sundre, AB along with uncle Jack of Yuma, AZ and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents Eli & Annie Hopkins, eldest son Eli (Butch) Hopkins, grandson Justin Hopkins and great granddaughter Kiera Reimer. Jim & Barb remained on the family farm until 1980 when they sold it, moved to Lethbridge where Jim began working at Mid West Pump until his retirement. The family would like to express deep gratitude to all of Jim’s Home Care “Girlies”, the staff at St. Therese and the nurses & doctors in ICU. A Family Interment will be held at the Champion Cemetery on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with a Social to follow at the Champion Catholic Church, everyone welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
