I have finished the course, I have kept the faith’ II Timothy 4:7 HENDRIKUS ‘HENK’ ALBERTUS NIEUWENDYK, beloved husband of Mary Nieuwendyk, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October, 14, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Besides his loving wife of 27 years Mary, Henk is survived by his sons Rudy Nieuwendyk, Fred Nieuwendyk and Rick (Anita) Nieuwendyk, 6 children Wilma (Gerrit) Van Vliet, Albert (Linda) Groenesteyn, Tony Groenesteyn, Joanne (Don) Tanasichuk, Henry (Kelly) Groenesteyn and Lorraine (Sid) Barwegen, 26 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 1st wife Henriette Louise (1957) and 2nd wife Neeltje ‘Nell’ (1979). Henk immigrated from Holland with his wife Henriette and twin sons in April 1953 and settled in Lethbridge. Henk loved Canada and the opportunities that were open to him. He became a Canadian citizen in 1959. After holding a couple different jobs he was very proud to be taken on at St. Michael’s General Hospital as a stationary steam engineer. He was at St. Michael’s for 19 years and retired in January 1987. To those who knew him well, he was a very thankful man and the words ‘we are well blessed’ were often heard coming from his lips. Thank you, oh my Father For giving us your Son and leaving your Spirit ’til your work on earth is done. When I stand in Glory I will see your face There I’ll serve my King forever in that holy place. As a family, we thank you for your love and support during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held at MARANATHA CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 260 McGill Blvd West, Lethbridge on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend John Huizinga officiating.
