It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Darci-Lyn Henderson on Monday, May 28, 2018 at St. Michael's Health Centre in Lethbridge, AB after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer at the age of 48 years.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Darci-Lyn Henderson on Monday, May 28, 2018 at St. Michael's Health Centre in Lethbridge, AB after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer at the age of 48 years.
Darci-Lyn was born in Kelowna, BC, moved to Rounthwaite, MB, and from there the family moved to Miniota, MB when she was 10 years old, where she remained until she graduated high school in Birtle, MB.
Darci-Lyn had a special way with people, especially the elderly and those with special needs. She made a career out of working with special needs and at risk children, working in schools in Miniota, Birtle, Hamiota, Brandon and Lethbridge.
What brought her the most joy in life was spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and nieces and nephews; she loved going on fishing trips; having camp fires; Sunday drives with Marc; attending music festivals - especially bluegrass festivals and listening to her cousins play; she a had passion for quilting - making every family member their own special quilt; and she had a love for visiting, whether it be with family, friends or complete strangers. She could be anywhere, strike up a conversation with a total stranger and learn their entire life story in a matter of minutes or find out that they knew someone that knew someone that she knew.
Darci-Lyn will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted soul mate, Marc Henderson; her two beautiful children, Anthony (Rute) Still and Kaitlyn (Eric) Wever and by her four precious grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Still and Easton and Davyn Wever. She will be lovingly missed by her parents, Warren and Betty Shewfelt; brother, Trevor (Debbie) Shewfelt; niece and nephew, Amy and Henry Shewfelt; parents-in-law Lionel and Laura Henderson; brother-in-law Bryce (Tamara) Henderson; sister-in-law Shanley (Mark) Barber; and nieces and nephews, Carson, Ryan, and Rhys Henderson, and Finn and Olivia Barber. She will also be remembered by many uncles, aunties, cousins and friends.
Darci-Lyn will be laid to rest at a family graveside service at Crawford Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Onanole Rec Centre, 386 Central Road in Onanole, MB on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darci-Lyn's memory to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, c/o Chinook Regional Hospital, 960-19Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
