HAWLEY, ALLAN WESLEY

MR. ALLAN “AL” WESLEY HAWLEY, most beloved husband of Verna Hawley, passed away suddenly at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the age of 81 years. Besides his loving wife Verna, Al is survived by his children; Gloria (Larry) Silsbe, Darlene Hawley, Colleen (Doug) de Casmaker and Wesley Hawley all of Lethbridge and grandchildren; Shawn Silsbe of Calgary, Kayla Silsbe and Scott (Chelsea) de Casmaker of Lethbridge. He is also survived by his siblings; Dora (Grant) Bates, Ilda Robblee and Gordon (Rose) Hawley all of Calgary, sister-in-law Shirley Hawley of Vernon, B.C., numerous nieces and nephews as well as Verna’s family; Stanley (Sylvia) Forczek and Cecelia (Ron) Chapman of Lethbridge and other extended family and special friends Ray and Sophie Shiels of Calgary and Dick and Carol Irvin of Columbia Falls, Montana. He was predeceased by his parents Pearl and Walter, grandson Matthew de Casmaker, siblings Beryl and Maurice and brother-in-law Len Robblee. Al was born July 24, 1929 in Borden, Saskatchewan. He was raised and educated in Saskatchewan and in 1948, moved to Stirling, Alberta where he soon met the love of his life, Verna Forczek. They were married on July 28, 1952 in Great Falls, Montana. In 1953 they started their family and raised four wonderful children. After driving for various trucking companies, he started his own company in August 1960, Al Hawley Trucking Inc. which is still operating today by his son Wes.
Al was an amazing husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He will be so dearly missed. Al enjoyed gardening and in his younger days he and Verna loved to dance, play cards and camping with their family and friends. His sense of humour was well known by everybody and his pranks were infamous. Al always gave sensible advice and was a wise and caring person. His big heart, strong hands and vibrant personality will live on in all of our hearts. A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 - 11th Street South, Lethbridge on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Canon James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow the reception at Mountain View Cemetery.
