HAROLD MANDEVILLE

HAROLD MANDEVILLE, of Lethbridge, formerly of Skiff, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on September 19, 2008, at the age of 83 years, after sustaining injuries due to a farming accident. Harold was surrounded by his loving family and is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pearl; son, Bryan; and grandson, Chase of Calgary; daughter Vicky, son-in-law Neil Pederson, grandchildren Travis and Julie of Blackfalds, Alberta. Harold is also survived by his daughter Cathy DeVrye of Sidney, Australia. Harold was predeceased by his father and mother, Tom and Lucy, and sister Mary Ann. He was an 8 time Canadian Rodeo champion, held the title of Cowboy of the Year, has been inducted into three halls of fame, and founded the Canadian Rodeo News, the official newspaper of the C. P. R. A. Harold was a well respected man who would help anyone, and did. He put everyone’s feelings before his own and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. As Harold faced his own passing, he said to his family, ‘It’s okay to cry because it’s sad, but I haven’t shed a tear and I’m ready to go’. He faced his impending passing with the same valor he showed in his life. There will be celebration of Harold’s life at the main pavilion of the Lethbridge Exhibition Grounds on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2:00 P.M.
