PATRICK ALEXANDER GLASHAN, father of David, Andrew, and Elizabeth, and husband of Patricia, died suddenly of a cancerous brain tumor.
Patrick had a lifelong devotion to education and was at various times a teacher, principal, superintendent, and college professor, as well as chairman of the Education department at Dickinson State University in North Dakota.
His fondest memories were of teaching children, especially at Clearwater Academy in Calgary, and of spending time with his family. He touched the lives of many and used kindness as the guiding principle in his life.
Patrick was passionate about sports. He played and coached throughout his life and was a lifelong enthusiast. Trips were often planned with baseball and football schedules in hand.
Patrick was deeply devoted to his family. Summer vacations were filled with trips across Canada visiting relatives. He was a committed Catholic and active in parish life where ever he lived. He was also a pro-life advocate.
Patrick enjoyed reading and gardening. He used the produce of the garden for cooking and making mead and wine.

My deepest condolences to my cousins Liz, Andrew and David who lost their loving father; to my Aunt Patricia who lost her devoted husband; and to my Mother Elizabeth Bouchard (Nee Glashan) who lost her caring older brother. I share in your sorrow and miss my Uncle Patrick dearly. I always looked forward to his visits as a child and remember he gave the best camel and race-horse rides! He would constantly regale me and my siblings with interesting trivia, jokes, and fascinating stories. My children were fortunate enough to meet him and to receive some fun postcards from him from his travels. I expect Uncle Patrick is smiling down at us from heaven and that he is at peace now. He has joined his father (Arthur Glashan) his mother (Veronica Glashan - Nee Doyle) and older sister (Barbara Sheridan, Nee Glashan) who pre-deceased him. With love, Katie Bouchard and family (spouse: Tyson McNeil -Hay and children: Maitland, Vera and Beverley)

He was always humble, gentle, kind and sincere. I always looked forward to seeing him, and that doesn't happen with too many bosses. Patricia, we are so sorry for your loss. Elizabeth, Andrew and David, losing a father is difficult at any age, and your father was still so young. May God bless you all and remain close by your side as you grieve the loss of this special man. Patrick left the world a better place by the way he lived his life, and he will be missed. You will all remain in our prayers. Ken, Kathy, Amy & Angela

I lost track of Pat Glashan many years ago when I left the Eastern Townships and pursued a career. It was not obvious to me at the time, but Mr. Glashan influenced me by being a good example. I realise that, as I reflect on why I took a commission in the Canadian Navy, and why I now teach at Carleton University and that I try to do something good for others each day. He was a good man.
