DOUGLAS LEROY GILLESPIE, of the Enchant-Vauxhall region, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the age of 68 years. He is the loving father of Dawn (James) Krahn, George (Brad) Gillespie, Douglas (Tammy) Gillespie, and Lee (Kim) Gillespie. He is survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, friend and former wife Sylvia Gillespie, and sister Sharon Gillespie. He was predeceased by parents George and Mary (ne? Prouty) Gillespie, and sister Faye Odland. Doug was born to George and Mary Gillespie. He farmed in Enchant where he also worked with his uncle Heidi Prouty at the Gulf Station. He was married in 1965 to Sylvia Bazant, together they had four children, three sons and one daughter. Doug moved to Vauxhall in the late ’80s and worked at Pakwell until his retirement. He loved to watch and play sports as well was an avid hunter. He loved farming and talked about it a lot is his last years, over the years Doug became an avid player of crib in his spare time.

A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lloyd Kohl officiating. A Private Family Interment will be held at Archmount Cemetery.
