Gerald was a faithful Christian, an agricultural salesman, father, husband, and grandfather, who collected friends wherever he went. We will miss him deeply.

Gerald grew up in the Niagara peninsula as part of a large, loving, Dutch immigrant family. He came to Alberta in 1975 and fell in love with the West and all things western. He met his wife, Rika, on the day of his arrival, and he never looked back. His career allowed him to make many friends in the agricultural community, his church families became dear to him, and his three daughters and their families were the delight of his life.
Gerald will be laid to rest in ROYAL VIEW MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 5920 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
A Memorial Service celebrating Gerald’s life will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastors Paul Van Stralen and Richard Brown officiating.

Rika, children and grand children, Tena send us a message, telling about the passing of Gerard. We feel so sorry, what a chock must that have been, so suddenly. I only met Gerard a few times, but the picture of the Snip familie was on the mantelpiece in my parents living room. My mum was very proud of her big brother and his family in Canada. I remember on staff party at the old house. Gerald was ignoring all the boring academic folk and playing...croquet I think, in the backyard with young Cassandra Eliot. This had Rika telling us all about the fun he had with his girls growing up. You were blessed to have him, and we thank you for sharing him, his joy, and his sense of fun with us. Heaven just got a little more entertaining. Love and prayers to all of you.
