GEOFFREY JOSEPH CALVERT passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Coaldale Health Centre. Geoff was the beloved husband of Eunice and father to sons; Michael (Tammy), Peter (Lynn), David (Lorelea) and Phillip. Geoff was born and grew up in the Derbyshire area of England. As a small child, Geoff’s family farmed in the Rockland, Saskatchewan area, returning due to the depression back to England. He joined the Royal Navy in 1942 and served on submarines and surface vessels during WWII, seeing action in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Geoff discharged from the navy, married Eunice in 1948 and in 1955 he moved his family to Belleville, Ontario. Geoff began an electronics repair business and later became the chief audio-visual technician for Loyalist College. In 1974, Geoff moved his family to Lethbridge and assumed a position at Lethbridge Community College (LCC) in their audio-visual department where he remained until his retirement in 1989. While at LCC, Geoff sat as the faculty member on the Board of Governors for two years. Geoff was an avid and skilled model builder of remote controlled airplanes, boats and miniature trains and enjoyed golf and hunting in his later years. Besides his wife and sons, Geoff is survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There will be a Service of Remembrance for family and friends at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Andrew Horne, officiating.
