Born in Magrath, AB on May 5, 1953, to parents Kay & Dorothy Bennett, Gayle was the third of four children (Cheryl, Debbie, Gayle, Darwin). She grew up in Magrath and spent her life living and working in and around southern Alberta. Her entire career was devoted to helping others in need; she was dedicated and cared for people as though they were her own family. She found joy in travelling and had just returned from a memorable family trip to Cuba, one we will cherish forever. Her family and friends meant the world to her, and she will be sadly missed by those who remain. She was a devoted and proud Gramma and loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to baseball games, cheering them on and being silly with them. She was set to marry her beloved fiancé, Kirk, this summer, and their love and friendship was a source of joy and comfort to them both.
Gayle will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her children: Tracy (Greg) Holt and their family (Lindsay (Braedon), Brittany (Tyrell), Brady, Cruz, Cash), Terry (Shannon) Anderson, and their son Steele, as well as her fiancé Kirk Godlonton and his family. She is also survived by her dear sister Debbie (Don) Reneau, as well as many other extended family members, all of whom she held dear. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Terry Anderson, and is now reunited with her beloved son Jason Anderson, big sister Cheryl Chudleigh, younger brother Darwin Bennett, parents Kay and Dorothy Bennett, and many other cherished family members. Gayle was also predeceased by her second husband, Pierre Maasakkers, with whom she shared nearly 30 years of love and companionship. She is survived by his children, Darren (Melissa) Maasakkers and Renee (son, Jonathan) Addison.
May she find eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who have passed before her. May her memory continue to bring comfort and strength to those who knew and loved her.
Special thanks to the support provided by the numerous Hutterian Brethren communities and especially to the Kings Lake community for crafting the beautiful casket for Gayle, a testament to their craftsmanship and kindness. We are also grateful to the staff at Cornerstone Funeral Home for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
Lastly, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have reached out with messages of sympathy, comfort, and support during this time of loss. Your kindness and thoughtfulness have meant more to us than words can express.
As per Gayle’s wishes, a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In honor of her love for gardens of all types, we kindly request that instead of flowers, you consider planting something in your garden or flowerbed as a tribute to her memory.
