GARBER
HERBERT GARBER, beloved husband of the late Clara Garber (nee Harty) for 60 years, passed away at Milk River Health Centre Friday, February 3, 2017 at the age of 89 years.
Dad was born August 1, 1927, in Weis, Austria. He immigrated to Canada settling in the Milk River area with his family just before his third birthday. On February 21, 1955, dad married the love of his life, Clara Harty and together they raised their 6 children on the family farm southeast of Foremost.
Dad's greatest love was his family. It was important to him that the family spend quality time together. Big occasions, little occasions and for no particular occasion, the more we were together the better. Next to his family, dad loved his steak at Northside Luigis in Lethbridge. Dad enjoyed his coffee, especially with apple pie and ice-cream. Other hobbies included playing cards, curling, camping and gardening, travelling and going for drives to check out the countryside.
Faith and community life were important to Dad. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks. He was also a founding member of the Amateur Border Radio Club.
