It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, DARCY LEE FUJITA, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the age of 56 years.
Mom leaves behind her three children, Krista Shearer (Fredy Fuentes), Kourtney Fujita and Kassidy Fujita, and four grandchildren, Aiden, Wyatt, Jessica and Greg. She also leaves behind her mom and stepdad, Bev and Luigi D'Agnone, and brother, Rob D'Agnone.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Doreen and Robert Sells, and her father, Ray Edmonds.
Mom was born in Calgary on June 22, 1966. A few years later, she relocated to Lethbridge with her brother and grandmother. In 1981, she moved to a farm near Wrentham. Mom graduated form Raymond High School in 1984 and moved back to Lethbridge to work as a hairdresser. This is where mom met her lifelong female friends. She also worked at the casino — quite the accomplishment for a gal who was so bad at math! Mom kept busy with her friends, work, hobbies, kids and gardening. Recently, mom was getting into flowers — annuals and perennials. She and Jessie would check the strawberry plant for strawberries every day.
Mom loved all animals and had a special affinity for pigs and dogs. From the time she moved to the farm, there was always cats and a dog or two to love. There is a story about a pig living in the house needing mom's loving care, and once he was better, he was not outside for very long before he became a permanent housemate. There might have been a bottle-fed calf taking up residence in the house at one time. We know for sure that a baby calf can easily climb into a house but cannot step down the stairs again. What a job to move that larger calf back outside!
Mom enjoyed wearing and collecting jewelry. She even made some of her own pieces. Mom enjoyed camping, golfing and fishing, except she needed someone to put the bait on the hook for her. She loved to be outdoors, especially with her grandkids.
A Celebration of Darcy's Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2825 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB - on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 4:00 PM with Patrick Siedlecki officiating.
A Public Visitation will be held prior to the Service, starting at 3:00 PM.
