Born on September 8, 1933, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Frieda grew up on a farm with her parents, Robert and Eva Hack. She had fond memories of her childhood, including harnessing horse team and learning music with her father. In 1951, Frieda met her beloved husband, Maurice, whom she married on June 20, 1952. Together, they raised two sons, Sydney and Michael, and cherished their role as grandparents to Erik, Paul, and Emily, as well as great-grandmother to Sienna.
Frieda was a devoted homemaker, known for her baking, hospitality, and community involvement, including volunteering at senior care homes and supporting various charitable causes.
