FRED SCHILLING

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of MR. FRED SCHILLING, on Friday, August 28, 2009 at the age of 84 years.

All who knew Fred found him to be a kind and gentle man. He lived life with a smile on his face and rarely complained.

Fred was born in Hillcrest Mines, AB. and lived in Blairmore until 2007 when he and Dot, his wife of 59 years, moved to Lethbridge.

During the War Years, Fred served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Upon leaving the Air Force, Fred returned to the Crowsnest Pass where he met and married Dot in 1950. Fred was a talented tradesman who built the family home where they lived for 57 years.

Fred belonged to many community groups and volunteer organizations, as one of his great enjoyments was helping people. He loved to swim, curl, golf and vacation with his family.

He is survived by his wife Dot, of Lethbridge, his daughter Bonnie (Brian) Linderman of Blairmore, his sister Anne North of Courtney, B.C., Brother in laws: Rob (Denise) Amatto of Blairmore A.B., Bruno (Galicia) of Lethbridge, Sister in laws: Julie Lant of Coleman, Lucy (Tony) Martino of Spokane, Washington as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family graveside service in Blairmore at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a memorial donation to St. Michael’s Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 1400 - 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4V5.
