In the early hours of December 19, 2008, Fred Evdokimoff passed peacefully away at the age of 77 years. Fred was born in Veregin, Saskatchewan - the second child in a family of five. He spent his young life in Veregin and Thunder Bay, Ontario before moving to Lethbridge in 1952. Easy-going, kind hearted, gentle spirited and strong-willed, Fred worked to live and was extraordinarily generous. He was hardworking, holding jobs with the railway, Lethbridge Ironworks, and eventually the University of Lethbridge before settling into retirement. Fred had a great sense of humour - he enjoyed a good laugh. He didn’t hesitate to share what he had with anyone who needed a hand, and was also generous of spirit, never saying a negative word about another person. After suffering a debilitating stroke in February 2000, Fred resided at St. Michael’s Health Centre, where he received exemplary care from dedicated staff. Fred’s family would like to extend special thanks also to Val Caffet of Paradigm Wellness, who provided Fred with exceptional companion care for many years. Fred was predeceased by his father and mother, Fred and Mary Evdokimoff, and is survived by his siblings Peter (Mary) Evdokimoff of Calgary, Fran (Bob) Baker of Cochrane, Bill (Geri) Evdokimoff of Ontario, and Wally (Connie) Evdokimoff of Lethbridge, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rather than hold a public memorial, Fred’s family wishes for everyone to thoroughly enjoy the holiday season, and take a minute to truly appreciate the warmth of home. A private celebration of Fred’s life and the scattering of his ashes will take place in the spring.
