FRANCES SWANSON, beloved wife of Roland (Rollie) Swanson of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Frances will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Rollie, her husband of 60 years; children, Evelyn of Edmonton, Eleanor (Jerry Gunn) of Edmonton, Craig of Seattle, Brenda of Lethbridge, Julie (Kevin Watson) of Calgary and Jaye (Wanda) of Claresholm; grandchildren Craig, Bryan, Kindra, Caraley (James Hooper) and Rolanda Anderson, and Richard and Samantha Watson, as well as 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Bessie Hendry of Granum and Lena Manchur of Brooks as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was born in Lethbridge on June 4, 1927 to Louis and Annie Moslaliuk. She grew up in the rural area of Turin, Alberta and later moved to Lethbridge. There she married Rollie in 1947, raised her children and then worked as a florist. She contributed to her community as a volunteer in her United Church Women’s group, her children’s schools and organizations, seniors groups and meals-on-wheels. Her greatest joys were raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren, tending her garden and using her artistic and crafting skills to make beautiful works for her family and friends. Family members extend their thanks to the staff of St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit and the Chinook Regional Palliative Care Team for their care and kindness to Frances in her final months of life and for their support to her family. A Memorial Service will be held at FIRST UNITED CHURCH, 502 - 13th Street North, Lethbridge on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Church Memorial Fund, 502 - 13th Street North, Lethbridge, AB, T1H 2S4.
