Filipcic, Rose

ROZALIJA (ROSE) FILIPCIC, beloved wife of the late Rihard (Richard), her husband of 60 years, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on July 2, 2019 at the age of 96 years. Alzheimer's disease took her from her loved ones years ago but many happy memories remain.

 
Left to mourn are her daughter Louise Westland (Garry Mastel) and her children; Melissa Westland; Melanie Johnston (Chris) and their sons Eli, Noah, Jacob and Luke; Michael Westland (Christine) and their daughters Burtyn and Emily; and Matthew Westland (Madison Simpson) and their son Riley; and Rose's son Stan Filipcic and his children; Katherine Anderson and her daughter Ella; and Adam Filipcic and his son Weston.
 
She was predeceased by her husband Richard, her parents, her siblings and her son-in-law David Westland.
 
Rozalija Zerdin was born in Velika Polana, Yugoslavia on February 27, 1923. She married Rihard Filipcic on May 9, 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their two young children and were always grateful to their adopted country. Rose loved cooking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. In their own quiet way, she and Richard were always welcoming to others and no one who visited them ever left empty handed or empty hearted. Her strong Catholic faith was her strength and guidance. Her family was her greatest blessing.
 
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH, 2405-12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.
