She is also survived by one sister, Pat Lindquist of Saskatoon, SK., two brothers in law, Bus Murdock of Santa Barbara, California and Vernon Garner of Raymond, AB, aunt Agnes Chamney of Sydney, Vancouver Island, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Lynn in 2005, parents John and Mary Stuckel, one brother Jim Stuckel and two sisters Violet Wilson and June Seddon.
Evelyn was born December 22, 1924 in Humboldt, SK. She was raised on the family farm before moving to Toronto where she met her sweetheart of 62 years. Evelyn and Lynn raised their family in Lethbridge. Evelyn worked at Eaton’s for many years until it closed, then worked at Woodward’s and then The Bay. Rain, snow or shine, she enjoyed walking Henderson Lake daily. At 66 she retired and spent many happy years camping, fishing and puttering around the yard. Evelyn was honest, hard working and a best friend to all her family. She was the glue in the family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. “We could count on her for the wait, we could count on her to be late, but we could always count on her.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Lois Punton, officiating.
In memory of Evelyn, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 1400 - 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5.
